Tax Election Saturday for Fire, EMS, and Sheriff

By  |

This Saturday, there will be an election wherein citizens will vote on taxes for Central Fire Protection District #4, for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, and for parish Emergency Medical Services.  The Central Fire Protection District is asking for renewal of a 10 year, 10 mill property tax that funds over 50% of its normal operating budget.  EBRSO is asking for renewal of a 10 year, 6.9 mill property tax that funds roughly 30% of its general operating fund.  EMS is asking for renewal of a 10 year, 3.13 mill property tax.  A “YES” vote on any of these items supports the renewal of the property tax.  A “NO” vote does not support the property tax renewal.  These three items are renewals of existing property taxes.  If renewed, your tax rate would not increase.
