Trevor Inspires Community to Give

Dear Central Community,

    The Central High School Student Council wants to thank you for your ongoing support of “Trevor’s Wish”. The support and the people that come in to Central High School on a daily basis to donate have truly been a blessing to see. Previously, we said the deadline for us to receive donations was October 4th, but we have decided to extend that for another week, until October 11th, however for your business to be on the t-shirt, the deadline will still be October 4th. This all started when we, the Student Council Officers, read the article online about Trevor’s dying wish, and knew that we couldn’t sit on the sidelines, that we had to do something to help.

    This past Sunday, we had the chance to meet Trevor, and it truly made an impact on us. The first thing you notice about Trevor is his genuine joy for life and his smile. Trevor is the most mature, funny, and kind 10 year old boy that I’ve ever met. The whole time we were there, he kept hugging on his little sister and telling his mom and sister that he loves them. It truly touched our lives to see a young boy who was going through so much, to have this optimistic of an outlook on life. When we went to school on Monday, many people asked how our visit went with Trevor. We tried to explain how amazing Trevor is, but we all found ourselves speechless. He has this peace about him that you can tell is from the Lord, and will never be taken away from him. It’s almost like you want to cry when you first see him because you know what he’s going through, but whenever you’re around him you can’t. Why? Because of the continuous smile that’s on his face. When we were on the way home Sunday, we were all speechless. None of us were able to find the words to truly describe Trevor’s personality. As we were leaving, Trevor asked if he could ride in the back of my truck and also drive it. In the next couple of minutes, he was sitting next to me in the driver’s seat. It was as if nothing in the world mattered to him except the fun he was having. Many times people associate the word “hero” with an actor or an athlete, but I can speak for all of the Student Council Officers when I say: Our hero is Trevor Sims. I can only hope and pray that he has made as big of an impact on your life just from hearing his story that he has had on our lives.

    If you are interested in donating, you can either drop it off in the front office at Central High School, or mail it to 10200 East Brookside Drive. City of Central, LA 70818. Please make checks payable to Central High School and mail to the attention of “Trevor’s Wish”. Also, if you are interested in buying a “Trevor’s Wish” t-shirt, order forms will be placed in the front office at Central High School, and the cost is $15. We have passed out order forms at all five Central schools, so your child’s teacher has likely told them about Trevor’s story and about the t-shirts. Thank you again for your support, and God Bless.
