The first awards singing the praises of and recognizing the many achievements made by women in the Central area will be given by the Republican Women of Central on Monday, September 16, 2013.
"Women work, volunteer, parent, support and become involved in a community for many reasons,  but not for the recognition. Their hours of work, expertise, generosity and willingness to assist beyond the boundaries of personal comfort are visible in every facet of life. It is purely out of love of family, community and service to others" announced the RWC Executive Committee.
Republican Women of Central are requesting that all 85 members of the organization nominate Central's first "Outstanding Central Women of Achievement" recipients. Its is appropriate and a new reason for women's achievements to be celebrated as RWC celebrates its third anniversary as a chartered club through the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women. RWC has become one of the most active clubs statewide, winning 10 awards at the LFRW state convention for community service, programming, fundraising and campaign volunteer hours.
"This is the first time women of all ages are being specifically recognized for all they contribute to our community and for the benefit of Central," said RWC President Debbie Dougherty, a local business owner and one of the founders of the City of Central Republican
Coalition.
With so many outstanding women contributing to children in and out of schools, local business owners, community activist, volunteers, church leadership, and families, RWC expects many nominations to this inaugural and annual award celebration, said Betsy Barnes, RWC 2nd Vice President, Fundraising Chairman and Louisiana Federation of Republican Women Publicity and Public Relations Chairman.
"We want to lift up and recognize the many outstanding ladies whose generosity, love and talent have made our community one to be proud of and a great place to call 'home', added June Dupuy, RWC's 1st Vice President and Membership Chairman, who with her committee, have almost doubled the number of  members in just 8 months of this year.
Nomination forms can be picked up at RWC's Membership Dinner Meeting on Monday, August 19th at Sammy's Grill in Central at 5:45 p.m. or by email request sent to [email protected]. Forms will also be available at Central Speaks Newspaper Office on Sullivan Road.
Only RWC active and associate members can make nominations. All registered Republicans are welcomed to join. Anyone in the community can be nominated by members, regardless of if they are a member of RWC or not.
Members may nominate more than one person for an award. Entries must be legible with all contact information completed.
