To many in Central, Bobby Dale Callender is just "one of the folks," an easy going family man. To many outside of Central and those would-be criminals who have crossed paths with him, he is no one they want to tangle with. Many residents, friends and neighbors like Callender's approach to crime. It's direct. With years of expertise in crime prevention, he is just who Central residents need as Commander of the Central Sub-Station.
A life-long resident Central, Callender has move through the ranks to become the Commander of the Central Sub-Station. Its not an easy job, but one he is well-qualified for and familiar with. He grew up being mentored by one of the first substation Commanders’ Mack White, Sr. in the 1970’s. along side cousin Major Bryan White and life-long friend Sheriff Sid Gautreaux. He worked in most areas of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Department and gained expertise in detectives, uniform patrol, felony action, armed robbery and burglary, community policing, metro and narcotics divisions.
He also worked in the jail. He left the office as a shift Lieutenant after more than a decade of service and took a position as the Chief Investigator at the Parish Attorney’s Office. While there he served as the Director of Gaming Enforcement, Director of Alcohol and Beverage Control and Director of Investigations.
Republican Women of Central are hosting their August 19 Membership Dinner Meeting with Captain Callender as their speaker, inviting new members and guests to learn how to best safeguard family and property, growing crime trends and prevention, and what he sees as opportunities to deter crime in Central to continue attracting new families to the area.
