Building Moratorium Lifted, Design Standards Implemented

By  |
On June 11th the Central City Council placed a moratorium on all commercial construction along Central’s major roadways.  The purpose was to prevent any construction which would not meet the design standards being created to control the look and quality of future construction.  Those Design Standards were enacted Tuesday by the Council, so the moratorium has ended.
Under the new standards structures built or renovated which are visible from Central’s major roadways will be required to be finished in brick, stucco, stone, cast stone or other architectural masonry.  The ordinance prohibits metal panels, concrete blocks, metal siding, plywood, and plastic.
