Central Community Assistance Foundation (CCAF)’s 2013 Applications are now available for pickup at the following locations:  Central Library on Joor, Central Community School System’s Central Office on Joor, the Chamber of Commerce on Hooper, and local schools. The Foundation exists to assist Central community students and their families with support and services to build, strengthen, and sustain community life.  CCAF is a non-partisan, non-profit organization created to solicit and receive funds/ resources for the purpose of assisting students (public, private and homeschooled) and their families who live in the City of Central or within the geographical area of the Central Community School System and are in transition due to economic hardship and/or crisis.
Since January 2010, over 170 families have been approved and have received some type of assistance or support,
• More than 230 bags of school supplies have been distributed to students of qualified families with the assistance of ‘Central Leaders for Tomorrow’ (CLT), Grace United Pentecostal Church, various other church groups, and CCAF volunteers.  Special thanks to Leah Veck and Samantha Crochet.
• School uniforms were provided to 203 students (94 families).  Most uniforms were donated by parents of Central Community Schools’ students; therefore, the average cost of providing the uniforms was $12.11 per child.  A big thanks to:  Central Cleaners for providing cleaning service for most of the donated uniforms, Donna McCaskill, and a special thanks to ‘Cooking in Central’ which will provide funds for new uniforms this year.  Coats were also donated throughout the year – a big effort from Central Chiropractic Center.
• About 25-30 families have requested for assistance with food through this organization.  CCAF partners with the Grissoms and the Central Food Bank to help fill these requests through the Central Fire Dept.
• Over 200 children were given Santa Toys through the Foundation.
• Fundraising efforts are much appreciated.  The Central Rotary Club will again have a Bed Race on October 5th to raise funds.  ‘Cooking in Central’ has adopted CCAF as a recipient of funds for the second straight year.  Personal donations are much appreciated.
We are also now accepting uniforms and school supplies.  Remember to BUY IN CENTRAL! Please plan to help “STUFF THE BUS” on July 17th in the parking lot of Walmart in Central!  School supplies may be dropped off at Raising Cane’s on Sullivan, Walgreens at Greenwell Springs/Sullivan, Central Community School Board Office on Joor, and Ross Tire on Greenwell Springs.  Uniforms may be dropped off at Walgreens, Ross Tire and the School Board Office.
