CAPA Corner: Eating in Central

By  |

“We eat well in Southeast Louisiana,” I was told before we moved to Central from St. Louis, MO late last June.  This statement is true.  We do eat well in Southeast Louisiana because there is great food in Southeast Louisiana!  In one year’s time I have come to love jambalaya, gumbo, boiled crawfish, boudin, and the many different variety of sausages that are unique to our area.
It is my understanding that all of this good food and more will be offered at “Cooking in Central” on June 7 & 8.  I am looking forward to eating some great food and enjoying the wonderful people of Southeast Louisiana at “Cooking in Central” at Amazing Place.  Maybe I will meet you there!
There is so much good food to eat in Central, and I encourage you to patronize our local restaurants and retailers.  However, there is another way in which we can eat well in Central.  This “Eating in Central” is not for our bodies but for our souls.  Each of us needs to eat in order to keep our bodies strong.  We also need regular feeding in order to keep our souls strong and doing what the LORD commands.  In Deuteronomy 8:3, we read, “… man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.”  This means that we need food for our bodies and our souls, and the food that we need for our souls comes from the Bible.
I love the Bible.  It is God’s Word.  It is the truth.  It is what we need for faith and life.  I encourage you to add the Bible to your diet of “Eating in Central” on a daily basis.  Have a plan for how you will read the Bible.  If you don’t have a reading plan, ask your pastor, and if you don’t have a pastor please feel free to ask me.  By God’s grace, reading the Bible (“Eating in Central” in a spiritual sense) will lead you to another “amazing place”!
