A rural doctor was known and respected in his community as kind and compassionate. After he died and his wife reviewed his accounts, several entries had written over them in red ink the words, “Forgiven – too poor to pay.” Unfortunately, the wife was not as generous as the doctor. She filed suit in the courts to collect. In the proceedings the judge asked if it was indeed her husband’s handwriting on the entries. She said, “Yes.” The judge’s ruling was then, “Not a court in the land can touch what he has forgiven.”
People change their minds; management changes along with policies; administrations make different emphases. But since the Lord of the Universe – Jesus Christ – does not change, neither will the verdict pronounced over the sins of those forgiven by Him.
If today, you are one that has placed trust in what Jesus Christ has done in His death, burial, and resurrection – then never will your forgiveness be overturned.
“But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.” ( Heb 9:26-28 NIV)
I encourage you today to trust in Christ alone, through faith alone, for the rescue from sin that comes to us by grace alone!
