Covenant Church of Central, LA, reached out into the Chaneyville community providing new, free clothing March 16 at the Chaneyville Community Center. Jeff Stanfill, pastor of Covenant Church, says, “The clothing was provided to us by an anonymous donation. Our church saw the opportunity to partner with the Chaneyville Community Center and bless that community.”
For several months volunteers of the church prepared for the event sorting the clothing as it was received and storing at their facilities. The day of the give-a-way over 25 volunteers transported and arranged the clothing, assisted shoppers, cooked and served hotdogs, provided activities for the children, and extended invitations for Easter Sunday worship.
According to Marie Bradford, community center director, between 175 and 200 individuals received new clothing as individuals and families were given the opportunity to “shop” for free.
Covenant Church, located at 22325 Greenwell Springs Road, exists in Central to glorify God by being a God-exalting, Christ-centered, Spirit-filled community of people. Covenant Church emphasizes life-giving worship, Holy Spirit empowered living, genuine relationships and ministry, contemporary teaching that is Biblical and rooted in historic Christianity, and influencing others toward a relationship with Jesus Christ.
