Local Student’s Artwork Chosen for National Publication
The Central Community Schools would like to recognize the achievement of Margaret "Meg" Terrio, a Talented Visual Art student. She is a 9th grade student at CHS that completed a project last year that was submitted for review by the anthology, "Celebrating Art". Her color pencil drawing, "Raintree Frog" took more than 40 hours of work and rivals some professional artist's work and accomplishments. This national publication, "Celebrating Art," awards a $25 prize for each of the top ten artists selected three times per year and publishes hardbound collections of the work highlighting 25% of the top art submitted during that period.
Talented Visual Art teacher, Robert Howerton said, "I am very proud of what she accomplished and glad she is getting the recognition she deserves for her work and dedication to developing her talent and skills. Meg has always been a joy and pleasure."
The Talented Program in CCSS is continuing to work to offer students scheduled class times at both CHS and CMS as well as enrichments at Tanglewood and CIS. These classes are focused on developing skills, abilities and creative opportunities for students identified as Talented. The hope for the program is to see more avenues of expression and exploration through intensive projects and portfolio development for students show significant skills in the arts. The Talented program includes Theater, Music and Visual Arts.
