In the past few weeks, EBRSO has made several arrests solving many recent burglaries in Central. The following information about the two most recent arrests was submitted by EBRSO.
ARRESTED: Antoine Johnson, B/M, DOB 10/17/1966, 4165 Sarasota, Baton Rouge
East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Armed Robbery and Burglary Detectives were investigating a rash of commercial burglaries in The Greenwell Springs/Flannery Rd area. : two that occurred at Grady Crawford Construction (12290 Greenwell Springs Rd.) on 5/7/2012 and 12/4/2012 and another burglary that occurred at Central Pools located at 12522 Greenwell Springs Rd. on 12/4/2012.
On 1/25/2013 Detective contacted the accused Antoine Johnson at a prearranged location. Johnson stated that he did commit these burglaries. He stated he walked to Grady Crawfords Construction on foot and stole mostly tools. Johnson stated that he did commit the burglary and stole tools from Grady Crawford. He stated the items were gone, that he sold them for drugs.
Johnson was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish for the four counts of Simple Burglary, three counts Theft, Simple Criminal damage to property.
ARRESTED: Derrick L Bailey, B/M, Height 6’4” 210 lbs, DOB 8/02/1979
At approximately 10:20 hours on January 25, 2013, Affiant and several EBRSO units responded to a burglary in progress at 4216 Raleigh Drive. Communications advised that a witness observed a b/m subject, later identified as the accused, Derrick Lemone Bailey (b/m DOB 08-02-79), burglarizing the neighbor’s residence at the above address. Upon arrival the Detective observed a 32” flat screen TV in the victim’s driveway. The Detective also observed point of entry as the victim’s damaged back door. The witness was contacted and wishes to remain anonymous.
Bailey waived his rights and admitted that he burglarized the victim, residence at 4216 Raleigh Drive, on the above date and time. The accused stated that he kicked in the victim’s back door and stole a flat screen TV and some jewelry. He stated that he placed the jewelry in a pillow case in the trash dumpster in front of the residence. Affiant recovered the jewelry which was contained in the pillow case from the trash dumpster.
Through further investigation Detectives recovered numerous stolen items from the suspect’s residence. The Officer transported the accused to Parish Prison and booked accordingly. East Baton Rouge Sheriffs ARAB Detectives have located items taken in several burglaries in the Baton Rouge City limits which were worked by the Baton Rouge City Police. Detectives have released property to the victims and will contact the Baton Rouge City Police so they can add their charges. More charges will be added to the suspect as we locate victims and return their stolen items.
