Scott Wilson’s opponent for State Representative is Barry Ivey. Mr. Ivey’s announcement was published previously in Central Speaks on the front page of the November 21st paper.
On November 28, small business owner and East Baton Rouge Parish native Scott Wilson announced his candidacy for Louisiana State Representative, District 65. A special election has been called for March 2, 2013 to fill the unexpired term of Rep. Clif Richardson (R-Central).
Wilson, 44, is President of Conker Drayage and Vice President of Derashnie Enterprises – two intermodal transport companies. He is currently serving as a member of the East Baton Rouge Parish Metropolitan Council representing District 4.
"As a member of the Metro Council, I have fought against tax increases and cut slush funds," Wilson said. "At the same time to prioritize our spending on our infrastructure needs. I will do the same at the State Capitol on behalf of the citizens of District 65."
Wilson is a graduate of Redemptorist High School and Louisiana State University from which he earned a degree in Finance. He is a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Central Chamber of Commerce, National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited.
"Clif Richardson has served us honorably and I wish him all the best in his fight against cancer," Wilson said. "This district has a distinct history of experienced leadership and I hope to add to that legacy."
