Two Girl Scout Cadettes from Central Troop  10036 recently earned the Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award a registered Girl Scout Cadette in grades 6-8 can achieve.  They are Sarah LeDuff (at left in photo) and Meg Terrio (on the right). Earning the Girl Scout Silver Award exemplifies a Girl Scout’s commitment to helping others and making a difference in their community. The Girl Scout Silver Award requires the completion of a series of leadership challenges that prepares them for their final “take action” project that involves approximately 50 hours of work.
The two Girl Scouts wanted their Silver Award projects to benefit Blackwater United Methodist Church, where their troop meets.  Sarah LeDuff led a team to build a handicap access ramp at the church, while Meg Terrio removed a rotted wooden cross on a walkway and replaced it with a memory mosaic.  Project advisor was David Coulter.
The Girl Scouting mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.  For more information about Girl Scouts or adult volunteer opportunities in St. Charles Parish, call the council office at 800-644-7571 or visit its website at www.gsle.org.
