Friday Night Lights in Central

    If you have never been to a high school football game, this Friday would be a good time to start.  If you have never been to a CENTRAL football game, this Friday would be a GREAT time to start.  For a half dozen or more Friday nights each fall Wildcat Stadium is home to arguably some of the biggest Central social events of the year.  In a city of 27,000 residents, some 3,000 fans of Central High School football routinely pack the stadium.  For THIS Friday, in round two of the playoffs, that number is likely to be 5,000. 
    For me, this Friday is a “Norman Rockwell” moment in time.  It is small town deep south America at its best.  Old friends, the band, the drill team, our National anthem, the football team, neighbors, competition, the cheerleaders, a great catch, the silks, season on the line, your ninth grade science teacher, a goal line stand, the kittens, concession stand food, a half time recognition, great weather, the winning touchdown in the final seconds of the game.  Does Friday night really get any better than this?  See you Friday at Wildcat Stadium.
