There are plenty of choices when it comes to pizza restaurants. Most offer the same experience and a similar product, while only a select few are truly worth getting excited about. Central has just gained another pizza restaurant and, if first impressions are any indication of future success, the city’s residents are in for a treat.
Johnny’s Pizza House, located at 14790 Wax Road, opened its doors on October 30th for an invite-only soft opening. Those invited were offered access to the majority of the menu at no cost. The event was an effort to prepare the staff for regular business and to give them real-time experience in preparing food during a business rush. Owners Charles and Jamie Savoie looked on as their staff took orders and served food to guests in a timely and efficient manner. They mingled with their patrons and asked for critiques and praise alike. The result was overwhelming approval.
Johnny’s Pizza House offers a diverse menu populated by tried and true staples as well as several house specialties. In addition to pizza, they offer cheese sticks, bread sticks, dessert cinnamon sticks, boneless and bone-in buffalo wings, salads, muffaletta sandwiches, and their own twist on a calzone called a “Flip.”
The ingredients used in the preparation of Johnny’s pizzas are top-notch. Generous portions of fresh toppings are placed over delicious sauce, which is spread evenly on top of quality hand-tossed dough and covered with 100% fresh mozzarella cheese. The combination is then placed in the oven and cooked to a satisfying crisp. The result is a pizza with crust that is just thick enough to be enjoyable without overwhelming the rest of the pie, and toppings that are piping hot and juicy. The house special “Pepperoni Plus” is an especially satisfying pie that includes a double helping of pepperoni and extra cheese. Johnny’s original “Sweep the Kitchen” offers a full mix of meats and veggies and is sure to delight.
Johnny’s offers their pizzas in a variety of sizes ranging from a single serving small to a family-sized 14” large. On weekdays during lunch hours, they host a buffet that is value priced at $5.99, and includes a host of classic and specialty pizzas as well as a salad bar and a dessert bar. In addition, all of Johnny’s pizzas are offered as a take-and-bake option, in which the pizza is prepared and preserved for you to take home and bake later.
Johnny’s facility has two dining areas, one of which houses several arcade-style gaming machines. Multiple high-definition televisions are available throughout the seating areas as well. Both tables and booths are available and the seating arrangements are perfect to accommodate families.
Overall, Johnny’s Pizza House should be a welcome addition to Central. The food is delicious and unique, and the atmosphere is friendly. The people behind the counter strive to make every experience a pleasant one and they look forward to serving you a great tasting meal soon!
