The Republican Women of Central will host a special Pre-Election VOTER ALERT LUNCHEON on Wednesday, October 17th at Sammy's Grill in Central.
Guest speaker will be Louisiana Senator Mack “Bodi” White(R) addressing issues related to upcoming elections, Central’s growth,  education and infrastructure plans as they relate to surrounding parishes.
Sample ballots for Election Day being held on November 6 will be distributed, and Republican candidates will be invited to introduce themselves if they are present.
RWC strongly encourages voters to cast their votes early, starting on October 23 until October 30, prior to election day to avoid traffic and crowds. The 2012 Presidential election predictions indicate high voter turnout. Members and all voters are urged to assist others who need to carpool or be driven to the polls.
Registered voters may vote during the early voting period at 4 locations in East Baton Rouge Parish: The State Archives Building on Essen Lane, EBRP Clerk of Courts Office located downtown at 222 St. Louis Street or at the Court Plaza Building at 10500 Coursey Boulevard. Voters living in Central, Baker or  Zachary areas, can vote at the Motor Vehicle Building, 2250 Main Street in Baker.
During the membership meeting, RWC’s 2013 Slate of Officers will be announced by the Nominating Committee Chairman Tommie Morden. Active members in good standing may volunteer or be nominated from the floor to run for elected offices within the club at this meeting. Elections will be held at the November RWC membership meeting.
After a year of successful fundraising, RWC announces more than 450 third graders in all Central area schools will receive their gift of a new Webster’s Dictionary starting the week of October 15.
Maudell Hill is serving as RWC Education and Literacy Chairman with assistance by many RWC members. Debbie Dougherty has served as Fundraising Chairperson.
The Dictionary Project is part of the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women’s Education and Literacy efforts. Each student can keep their dictionary and use it throughout their education. Fundraising efforts for the Dictionary Project included "Real Housewives of Central" T-shirts, raffles and hamburger cookout at Jackson Park.
“Real Housewives of Central” T-shirts are available in all sizes for $20, and will be on sale at the October 17 meeting.
Cost to attend the meeting and luncheon is $15 for RWC and LFRW members, $20 for guests. Pre-registration for the meeting may be emailed to [email protected]. For information on membership, sponsorship and future events, please contact Debbie at 571-4252.
