Wide receiver Darryl Lavigne #4 catching a pass from quarterback Gabriel Brown
Submitted by CMS Coach Hilliard
“It is great to see young boys go onto the field with the drive of young men, just as it is great to see grown men on the side line jump up and down cheering like young boys when their Wildcats accomplishes a great tackle or play.” stated Kelli Stafford, mother of CMS football player Sam Stafford.
Last week, the CMS Wildcats won their second conference game against Baker with a final score of 31-12. The defense, which was lead by Brady Jones, Edgar Janise, Robert Stone, Dylan Sanchez, Joshua Dejean, and Nathan Williams, set the tone by causing a turnover on Baker’s first possession and continued to make key plays during the game. Offensively, the CMS Wildcats’ wide receivers, Darryl Lavigne, Jearlmiah Ward, and Chance Atkins, made some great catches throughout the entire game. Most importantly, the offensive linemen (Colin Campbell, Andrew Harris, Kyle Kepper, Parker Aucoin, and Cameron Quin) did an awesome job of blocking and opening up holes for QB Gabriel Brown, RB Joshua Herbert, RB Xavier Lewis, and RB Quint Guerin.
The 8th grade football team hopes to remain undefeated, with a record of 4-0, as they prepare to visit Hammond Jr High today (Tuesday, Sept 25) for a nonconference game at 6pm. The CMS Wildcats look forward to continuing their perfect season and achieve our goal of becoming the 2012 BRBAA Middle School League Champions. Please make a trip to Hammond and show your support.
Key players to watch include:
OFFENSE – QB – Gabriel Brown, RB Joshua Herbert, WR Lane McCaskill, OL Kyle Kepper
DEFENSE – LB – Joshua Dejean, DE/SS – Brady Jones, SS – Jude Fontenot, DT – Nick Jones
