CHS Athletics to Host Heart Screenings for Student Athletes

    Once again CHS athletics has found a way to ensure the above average health care for your son or daughter.  On July 17th and 19th (Tuesday & Thursday) medical professionals from Jump Start Your Heart and Baton Rouge EMS will be at CHS from 4pm to 8pm.

    Jump Start Your Heart is a non-profit organization whose goal is to screen young athletes for potentially life threatening cardiovascular conditions.  This program was started by Dr. Steven Kelley of the Southeastern Cardiovascular Consultants in Baton Rouge.  Co-Founder, Danielle Kelly, oversees the day to day operations.  Jump Start will be offering echocardiogram screenings to our student-athletes.  EMS will be on hand to offer 12 lead electro-cardiograms (EKGs) as well.  Because Jump Start is a non-profit organization they do not charge for their services.  However we will be asking for a $20 (cash preferable), half of which will be awarded to Jump Start Your Heart as a donation.

    This is an excellent opportunity to have your child(ren) screened at a MUCH lower cost than would normally be available.  Together these tests could easily reach the $1,000 mark.  We are estimating being able to service approximately 50-60 people per day and appointments will be first-come-first-serve on the day you schedule (IF warranted, we will explore options for a third day).  Call 261-3169 to make appointments or for more information.  We ask that you come early with your son and/or daughter to ensure all paperwork is filled out properly.  Thank you for the opportunity to work with your child(ren).  Hope to see you there!
