Mayor Pro-Tem to Speak at Boy Scout Benefit Dinner
PRESS RELEASE
East Baton Rouge Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Walker is the guest speaker for the 2nd Annual Pioneering the Future Boy Scout Benefit Dinner. The dinner will be hosted on June 21, 2012 at Kristenwood Reception Hall on Greenwell Springs Road, with doors opening at 6:30 pm and program beginning at 7 pm. Dinner to include roast, sides, and desserts. Wine and beer will be available. This event is open to the general public.
The Pioneering the Future benefit dinner is a fundraising effort by the Tunica District – City of Central Friends of Scouting campaign. This year’s goal, to fully fund Scouting on the District and Council level for the Scouts in Central, is twenty thousand dollars. A combination of donations, fundraisers like the dinner, and corporate sponsorships keep the Scouting program running.
“Last year’s goal was reached with tremendous success because of the rallying of caring business owners and individual donors in the Central community”, reports Brockwell Bone, Chairman of the City of Central Friends of Scouting Campaign.
“As the proud father of two sons who were active in scouting, I have an appreciation for the way in which the Boy Scouting program prepares young men for the future by building character and developing leadership skills”, comments EBR Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Walker. Last year, State Representative, and Eagle Scout, Dale Erdey was the guest speaker.
