It’s only fitting that Central would get the opportunity to play St. Paul’s for the third straight year. The previous two games were filled with disappointment as the Wildcats came up short both times. Now, the Central Wildcats (6-4, 4-1 district) will travel to Covington to take on the St. Paul’s Wolves (10-0, 5-0 district). The Wolves mowed through their regular season schedule averaging 36 points per game while only giving up 11 points per game. Their closest game was a 15-14 win against Acadiana, last year’s state champion. St. Paul’s is led by two senior running backs (Dylan Long and Kris Brumfield) who together have rushed for 1424 yards and 22 touchdowns. Their quarterback, Patrick Duncan, is 96-157 on the season for 1262 yards and 13 touchdowns. This will be the toughest opponent the Wildcats have faced up to this point but will bring a 4-game win streak into the playoffs. They also have a 4-1 record on the road this season. It will take all hands on deck if the Wildcats want to upset the Wolves, but there is no doubt that Coach Dotson will have his team ready to play Friday night.
