Central’s defense found a way to do what not many teams could do to East Feliciana this past Friday: stop them. In what would amount to half a regular season game, the Wildcats did not give up a single offensive point to the Tigers, winning the game 7-2. East Feliciana got the ball first and drove it down to Central’s 4 yard line where the Wildcats mounted a goal line stand that kept the game scoreless. The Wildcats took over but were tackled in the endzone on a run play by Gary Triplet. Central forced a fumble on East Feliciana’s next drive that was recovered by Logan Metcalfe. The Wildcats steadily got in the normal flow of their offense with big runs by Brett Courville (9 carries, 46 yards) and Lamonte Janeau (12 carries, 41 yards). Courville also completed a 74 yard touchdown pass to Gary Triplet for the only touchdown of the game. Courville finished the game completing 3 of 5 passes for 79 yards with the one touchdown pass.

The Wildcat defense held East Feliciana to 128 total yards and forced 2 fumbles, displaying the “bend but don’t break” mentality. Zach Hetrick led all defenders with 3 tackles. The East Feliciana offense got 50 rushing yards mainly on runs by Armstead and Woods which totaled 43 yards. Central’s passing defense improved as the game went along, giving up only 13 of 78 passing yards in the second half.

In his post-game speech, Coach Dotson said, “I feel like we came out flat. In the style we are going to play and the pace we are going to push, we can’t come out flat.” Coach also commented on the positives mentioning the goal line stand and long touchdown pass. In closing, he said, “We have a long way to go to be a great football team, but we will get there.” This is a team that can reach any goal they set if they continue to work hard.
