On Saturday the Rebels hosted the defending state champs Brookhaven Academy. Blake Chelette took the mound and turned in an impressive performance pitching the complete game with 7 strike outs, 4 hits, and 0 walks in the Rebels 3 to 1 victory. Central Private is now 12 and 2 on the season with a district record of 5 and 1. The Rebels head coach Jason Kinchen had this to say about last week’s games: “The Wilkinson series went as expected. We showed poise as a disciplined team that was there to take care of business. It takes mental toughness to stay focused in ballgames that you know you are supposed to win. I commend the boys on doing that. As for Brookhaven, it was an overall team effort that put us ahead of the defending state champs. Another solid performance from Blake Chelette continues to make our pitching staff stronger. He did a nice job of locating off speed and getting ahead of hitters early. When a pitcher throws under 100 pitches with no walks and good command, we will be tough to beat. What impressed me was his ability to finish the last inning with better stuff than the first inning! That's the mark of a good pitcher.”
