EMS Crew Escapes Serious Injury

    On Thursday, 3/10, this Central based EMS vehicle and the red pickup truck pictured were involved in a collision on Magnolia Bridge Road in Central.  The EMS crew of two was in route to Droze Road responding to a call for a one year old having a seizure.  Fire Chief Bill Porche said the details of the collision are sketchy but that it can best be described as a freak accident.  The EMS vehicle then left the road and suffered a head-on collision with a backhoe doing construction work near the road.  Amazingly, everyone involved in the accident was treated and released that evening.  One of the EMS crew received stitches for lacerations.  The scene serves as a reminder that our EMS, Fire and Law Enforcement officers risk their safety every day to serve the people of Central.  Chief Porche shared that statistically firefighters are more likely to suffer injuries and fatalities traveling to and from a call than oat the scene.  Let’s all go the extra mile and be especially careful when an emergency vehicle is on a call.
