North Point Family Health opened its new facility at 18901 Greenwell Springs Road on January 4.  Drs. Herschel and Kyle Dean together represent almost 60 years of experience in the medical field.  After receiving his medical degree from Louisiana State Medical School in New Orleans, Dr. Herschel Dean began practicing in 1969 with Drs. C.S. McConnell and A.F. Sanders at the Winbourne Clinic, which had been in business since 1943.  From Winbourne the clinic moved to Greenwell Springs Road and became the Greenwell Medical Clinic.  Moved now to North Point, Dr. Dean says he still sees patients who have been with the practice since the 1940’s!  Dr. Kyle Dean, Dr. Herschel’s son, joined the practice in 1997.  He also received his medical degree from Louisiana State Medical School in New Orleans, completing his residency at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.  He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.  The doctors and their skilled staff provide a wide variety of healthcare services to meet the needs of the entire family from infancy to older adulthood.  “We pride ourselves in providing comprehensive and quality medical care while maintaining our personal and traditional values,” Kris Glover, practice administrator who has been with the clinic for 25 years, shared.  “We believe that this is the way health care is meant to be.”  In keeping with this belief, 6 specialists offer their services at North Point as well.  In Dermatology, Dr. Frank Johnson with Louisiana Dermatology will have office hours on Mondays.  Dr. Joe Cefalu, cardiologist with Baton Rouge Cardiology, will hold office hours on Tuesday afternoons.  Orthopaedists Dr. David Rabalais and Dr. Adam Whatley with Baton Rouge Orthopaedics will be available on Thursday afternoons.  Dr. Keith Elbourne and Dr. Josh Best, affiliated with Bayou Regional Women’s Clinic, will have office hours on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.  Quest Diagnostics is a reference lab onsite Monday through Friday for laboratory services.  Vascular studies and echocardiograms are offered by The Vascular Lab at NPFH.  Drs. Herschel and Kyle Dean are available Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to cover illness treatment, injury assessment and treatment, minor surgery and laceration repair, immunizations, diabetes management, high cholesterol management, cardiovascular management, asthma and allergy management, along with well-baby and well-child care.  A unique feature to this practice is its Convenient Care hours Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  In addition, Dr. Kyle Dean has a special interest in Aesthetic Medicine and is medical director of the North Point Spa, located next door to the practice.  He is a Member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.   NPFH has a fully-trained staff ready to assist their patients.  Rhonda Browning, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, has masters degrees in Nursing in Family Practice and Education in Community Counseling.  She also has a post-graduate degree in Family Psychiatric Mental Health Practice.  Tracey Reily is a certified Physician Assistant, focusing in urgent care, family medicine, and disease prevention.  She also serves on the faculty at Our Lady of the Lake College.  Allison Jackson is a Physician Assistant with an additional degree in Kinesiology.  She has practiced in internal medicine, emergency medicine, and cardiology.  Dr. Herschel Dean and Dr. Kyle Dean, along with their associates, are excited to open their new office in Central and are looking forward to serving the medical needs of Central’s residents and surrounding areas for many years to come. You are cordially invited to come meet Drs. Herschel and Kyle Dean and their staff at their Grand Opening on March 15th.  The ribbon cutting will be held at 5:30, with food, snoballs, a spacewalk and door prizes. Come join the fun!
