Sarah Kathryn Onstead Marries Daniel Joseph Guagliardo

Sarah Kathryn Onstead, of Central, and Daniel Joseph Guagliardo, of Hammond, were married at 6:00 p.m. , Friday, December 17, 2010, at Zoar Baptist Church, in Central. Rev. John Schaffner, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, officiated the double wedding ring, covenant marriage ceremony. Rev. and Mrs. Mark and Terry Hebert sang “The Prayer.”
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Lynn and Kathryn June Duke Onstead, of Central. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Marilyn June McCall Duke, of Central, and the late Mr. Boyd Ray Duke, and Mrs. Johnnie Mae Hunt Onstead, of Central, and the late Mr. Floyd Paul Onstead.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Earl and Virginia Catherine Mannino Guagliardo, of Tickfaw. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Frank, Jr. and Fay Tycer Guagliardo, of Hammond, and the late Mrs. Margaret Notariano Guagliardo and the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Joseph and Olivia DiGiovanni Mannino.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, with their blessings. She wore a strapless, ivory matte taffeta A-line bridal gown, with a sweetheart neckline and drop v-waistline. The bodice, hem below the bubble of the skirt, & train were accented with pearl and crystal beading and silver embroidery. Her cathedral length veil and blusher was edged with hand-sewn scalloped lace & secured with a headpiece of pearls & crystals. She carried a family heirloom handkerchief and sixpence with her cascading bouquet of white Casablanca lilies, red and cream roses, cream spray roses, red hypericum berries, white dendrobium orchids, and cedar greenery.
The bride was attended by her sister and matron of honor, Mrs. Lauryn Brooks Onstead Gehling, maid of honor, Ms. Deena Blair Clark, and bridesmaids Ms. Melissa Amber Vickry, and Ms. Anna Anese Martin, all of Central. They wore floor-length apple red satin strapless gowns with structured bodices and chiffon pleating and sash. They carried bouquets of cream and jade roses, cedar greenery, and ivory ribbon. The maid and matron of honors’ bouquets also included red hypericum berries. The flower girl was Miss Julia Reese Schuurman, of Alexandria, Indiana. She wore an ivory spaghetti strap organza ball gown with beaded embroidered bodice and horizontal embroidered skirt. She also wore a floral halo headpiece of cream flowers, red sweetheart roses, red hypericum berries, and long tails of pale ivory ribbon. She carried a basket of red and cream silk rose petals.
The bridegroom was attended by his best men Mr. Ryan Alexander Dunnington, of Hammond, and Mr. Christopher Robert Guagliardo, the groom’s brother, of Anderson, Indiana. Groomsmen were Mr. Jason Paul Esler and Mr. Jules William Lagan, III, all of Hammond. Ushers were the bride’s brother, Mr. Jason Paul Onstead, of Edwardsville, Illinois, the bride’s brother-in-law, Mr. Thomas Keith Gehling, of Central, Mr. Roland James Robert, IV and Mr. Evan Tylor Pardue, all of Hammond. The ring bearer was the bride’s nephew, Austin Ray Onstead, of Walker.
The candlelit church was decorated in a festive Christmas holiday theme of red poinsettias and gold. Additional red, cream, and white flowers, Christmas greenery, and tulle ribbon and bows were added to the decor.
A reception took place at Ashley Manor.
The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal dinner, in Zoar Baptist Church’s Youth Building, the evening before the wedding.
The bride is a home school graduate, attended Baton Rouge Community College and Southeastern Louisiana University, and attends New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She is employed as a sales associate at Ann Taylor Loft, at the Mall of Louisiana.
The groom is a graduate of Hammond High School and attends New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is employed as an operator at Graham Packaging.
Following a wedding trip to Disney World, Orlando, Florida, the couple will reside in Hammond, Louisiana.
