Remembering Lucille M. Guillory

Lucille Matherne Guillory

Lucille Anne Matherne Guillory, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Baton Rouge.  Lucille was born August 6, 1920, in St. James, Louisiana.  She was a long-time resident of Central and member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.  Residing at Lake Sherwood Retirement Center for the last few years, Lucille enjoyed playing bingo and being a member of the bell choir.  She was known for her sense of humor and her graciousness.  Lucille was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory three daughters—Paula Smith and husband, Coy; Denice Thomas and husband, Greg; and Patrice Guillory.  Grandchildren include Eric Smith and wife, Sara, and their children, Aubrey and Grant; Blake Bottger and wife, Kelli, and their expected child; Lindsay Bottger, Elizabeth Thomas, Catherine Thomas, and Victoria Thomas.  Visitation took place on Friday and Saturday at Greenoaks Funeral Home, with burial afterwards in Greenoaks Memorial Park.  Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. Guillory; her parents, Anna Vicknair and Arneaux Matherne; and five brothers.
