Last week, after the Central/Denham football game in Wildcat Stadium, a group of local celebrities gathered to play a “city vs schools” flag football game for charity. These men and women were asked to participate in the game as a way to raise money for the American Cancer Society. All of the participants were very supportive of the effort, and they did a very kind thing by putting on a show for hundreds of students, parents and fans Friday night. The game was officiated by Police Chief Doug Browning and Deputy Shane Evans. Their presence was very much appreciated. Thank you also to the following people who were invited to play on each team: CITY TEAM: Councilman Wayne Messina (Team Captain), Councilman Tony LoBue, Councilman Aaron Moak, Councilman Ralph Washington and his wife Carolyn, Mayor’s Office Assistant David Barrow, Chamber President Ron Erickson, Fire Chief Bill Porche, Fire Captain Derek Glover, City Clerk Mark Miley, City Services Committee Member Mike Mannino, and City Services Employees Roy Hutchinson and Mindy Callender. SCHOOLS TEAM: Student Services Director Robert Williams (Team Captain), School Board President Sharon Browning, School Board Member Ruby Foil, School Board Member Marty Guilbeau, School Board Member Russell Starns, School Board Member David Walker, CHS Principal Bob Wales, CHS Assistant Principal David Prescott, CHS Athletic Director Sid Edwards, CHS teacher John O’Brien, CHS teacher and athletic trainer Doc Johnson, CMS Assistant Principal Patrick Bridgewater, CIS Principal Rhonda Taylor, and CIS Assistant Principal Jeremy O’Banion. Thanks to Announcer Les Bush, who served as announcer for the game and even put on a post-game show.
