Central Residents Participate in Active for Autism

By  |

AFA1b    The 7th annual Active for Autism race was held Saturday, April 30 at the State Police Headquarters. Central residents Dan Siedel and his son Sam participate every year, with Dan pushing Sam in his wheelchair. This year, Dan asked Sam’s friend Evan White to push the chair. Evan was born with low muscle tone, his right leg was shorter than his left, and his knees turned slightly inward. As Evan grew it was discovered that he had communication issues and was diagnosed with oral motor Apraxia, and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). Despite all this, Evan recently participated in the Special Olympics. Evan won 1st place in the Softball Throw, 1st place in the Long Jump, and 2nd place in the 50 Meter Run. Evan and Sam met in third grade and are now best friends.
