GIRLS BI-REGIONALS – ROUNDS 3 & 4: CENTRAL BEATS ALBANY TO MAKE 2ND STRAIGHT FINAL FOUR
Bi-Regionals consist of teams remaining in the Baton Rouge, Hammond and New Orleans areas.
As a 1-Seed, undefeated Central received a BYE in Round 3 and took on 2014 State Champion Albany in
Round 4 on Tuesday (3-29-16) at All Star Lanes. The two teams have met twice over the last two years
with the Wildcats winning both occasions, 14-13 in 2014 and 22-5 in 2015.
This time around, not only did the Wildcats defeat Albany, but they did it in solid fashion.
Central won all three games winning Game 1 6-2 (1151-1003), Game 2 6-2 (1023-890) and Game 3 6.5-
1.5 (933-824). Game 1’s 1151 was yet again another school record for the Wildcats. Central also won
the 3 bonus points for Total Pins by over almost 400 pins, 3107-2717. Overall the Wildcats won by a
final score of 21.5-5.5. Freshman Jessie Smith led the team with a very impressive 626 series (216, 248)
and Junior Brianna McCurley followed with a 557 (220). Junior Sariah Short rolled a 522 (210),
Senior/Captain Sarah LeDuff rolled a 503 and Junior Brittnee Robinson had a 472.
For the second straight year the Wildcats are moving on to the Final 4 and continue to prove
that they’re a team with a solid chance to bring home a State Championship. Central will see a familiar
team in Round 5. Central will be taking on 3-Seed Ellender. Central beat the Patriots 19-8 last year in
Round 5. The Patriots have a team average of 956, which is 2nd highest in the state behind Central’s
1010. On the other side of the Final 4 is last year’s State Champion 2-Seed St Scholastica (905 team
average) vs #5-Seed Morgan City (933 team average). Come support your Wildcats to a State
Championship on Friday (4-8-16) at All Star Lanes in Baton Rouge. Matches start at 11am with the Finals
at 1pm. Admission is $5.
