Gateway Transition Center Hosts Apparel Sale

GTC logo_Blue    Need a new t-shirt, hat, golf shirt or dress shirt?  Want to help a local non-profit provide transition services to young adults with autism?  If you answer is “Yes” to either question, please join us for an apparel sale at the Starkey Gym on Saturday, March 19 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  A Central family has generously supplied new men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel in various styles, brands, and colors to benefit the Gateway Transition Center (GTC).  The products will be sold for low prices on this date only.
GTC is a local non-profit which provides transition training to young adults with autism.  Too often, these young adults lose support when they leave high school and are unable to live independent lives and hold meaningful employment. They require training and experience to navigate the “real world” outside of the structured school environment.  GTC  fills this void by providing individual training and experiences for a wide range of skills, such as financial management, social interactions, independent living, vocational development, and personal health. To offset the costs of this comprehensive training, as a 501c3 non-profit, GTC raises funds to provide scholarships to its clients.
As a part of GTC’s training model, it has established a manual screen print shop.  Young adults work in this shop to develop the skills and confidence to hold long term employment.  “Gateway Ink” has been generously supported by  local screen print companies and suppliers.  These Central residents provide much needed advice and support to the GTC team. With a generous spirit, these local residents have selflessly shared their years of knowledge and  experience to ensure the success of the program and our young adults.  Further recognizing the need for funding, these supporters offered to sponsor this weekend’s apparel sale at Starkey Academy. Cassie Dinecola, GTC's Executive Director, lauds the generosity of this Central family, “Without the support of people in the Central community, Gateway would be unable to continue to meet the needs of our clients and their families.  We are extremely grateful for their generosity.”
Please join the cause, and get some great new clothes on March 19.  In addition, golfers who want to have fun and help, mark your calendars for May 9, 2016.  Gateway Transition Center will be hosting a golf tournament at The Bluffs in St. Francisville.  Also, Gateway Ink is taking T-shirt orders. If you have a need for screen printing, please consider using our service as all T-shirt sales help support our programs.
