CAPA Corner: How to Get to a Great Place of Peace
Follow the scriptures in Philippians Chapter Four and they will help you get to the greatest place on planet earth.
Philip. 4:1 – “stand fast in the Lord.” Stand fast simply means refuse to abandon one’s faith. Stand firm, stand your ground, or maintain one’s position.
Philip. 4:2 – “be of the same mind in the Lord.” Paul tells us earlier in this book in chapter two, “Fulfill ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done though strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus…”
Philip. 4:4 – “Rejoice in the Lord always.” Here is another command from God’s word and when we are obedient to it we are blessed by God. Rejoice means to be glad; be glad for God’s grace. Luke 10:17-20 lets us know that we shouldn’t just rejoice when things are going well in our life or when we overcome the enemy. Jesus says, “…but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” Be glad the grace of God has saved you through faith in Jesus Christ.
Philip. 4:5 – “Let your moderation be known unto all men.” Peace does not come when you let the world know how upset you are. Show some restraint and avoid extreme behavior. God forbid people would see Christians showing some self-control and that we are able to follow peace with all men (Heb. 12:14). “The Lord is at hand.” Jesus is coming for us, a people who sin often and can be very upsetting. Do we want to see his moderation or extreme behavior? I’ll go with moderation.
Philip. 4:6 – “Be careful for nothing; but everything by prayer…” Quit worrying and pray. People wonder why there isn’t any peace in their life. There is more fear, anxiety, and worry going on in a believers life than there is prayer. This ought not be.
If we stand fast in the Lord, and be of the same mind in the Lord, and rejoice in the Lord always, and let our moderation be known to all men, and quit worrying and pray, then we will get to the greatest place on earth…
Philip. 4:7 – “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” A peaceful place is a great place and can only be attained through faith in Jesus.
