GIRLS BOWLING KEEPS UP DOMINANT PACE
Central Girls Bowling (5-0) extended their regular season winning streak Monday, February 15 to 7 matches by blowing out St. Amant (1-5) 26-1 and 3058-1961 in total pins. Central continued to show they could be the team to beat this year in not only the local area, but in the state.
Central cruised in each game winning 8-0 (1037-623), 8-0 (1069-680) and 7-1 (952-658). The Wildcats broke 3000 total pins for the 3rd straight match. In comparison, the defending State Champions St. Scholastica’s high series for the season is only 2874 and St. Michael’s is next with a 2539. Senior/Captain Sarah LeDuff led the way with a very strong 595 (215, 213), followed by Junior Brianna McCurley's 579 (189, 213, 177), Junior Brittnee Robinson's 547 (176, 178, 193) and Freshman Alanna Coward's 531 (185, 178).
The Wildcats will take on St. Joseph’s (1-3) on Wednesday, February 17 at Circle Bowl. Central and St. Joseph’s have split their two regular season matches the past two years and the Wildcats will be looking for similar results as two weeks ago when Central beat St. Joseph’s 27-0.
BOYS BOWLING SUFFERS FIRST REGULAR SEASON LOSS IN ALMOST TWO YEARS
The last time Central Boys Bowling was handed a regular season loss was almost two years ago against St. Amant on March 17, 2014. On Monday, February 15 Central (5-1) suffered their first loss of the season. Dutchtown (5-1) had a great day on the lanes beating the Wildcats 19-8 and 3444-3358.
The Griffins shot a season high game (1216) and series (3444) against a very strong Wildcat performance. Game 1 saw the Griffins win 6-2 and 1121-1063, Game 2 ended in a 4-4 tie with the Wildcats winning total pins 1117-1107 and Dutchtown winning Game 3 5-3 and 1216-1178. The game came down to total pins with Dutchtown winning by 86 pins. The Wildcats were led by Junior Bruce Delaune's LHSAA personal high 632 (244, 213), Junior Dylan Ringo's 628 (202, 211, 215) and Junior Parker Aucoin's 616 (191, 241). Junior Parker Wales added a 2-game 394 series (212) and Senior/Captain Johnathan Ryder added a 191. Averi Laughlin led the Griffins with a 639 (212, 264).
The Wildcats will try to rebound on Wednesday, February 17 against Baton Rouge High (1-3) at Circle Bowl and set up a huge showdown for next week. On the horizon is Catholic (7-0) on Monday (2-22-16) in which will more than likely be the match to determine this year’s District Champion.
