Central Girls and Boys Bowling Win Jamborees

BOYS
Central finished their preseason with a convincing victory, a 3-Team Jamboree consisting of Central, Denham Springs and St Michael’s this past Wednesday (1-13-16). The Jamboree format would consist of a round of Baker Format (3 games) and then 1-game match against both Denham Springs and St Michael’s with total points determining the winner.
Game 1 saw Central taking on Denham Springs with the Wildcats winning a close game in total pins (979-941) but 6-2 overall in total points. Parker Aucoin (Junior) was high on the team with a 194. In Game 2, the unique Baker Format (5 bowlers bowling 2 frames each to combine for a full game) was up next and Central came out strong with a 177, 199 and 163 to take 5 of the 6 points. St Michael’s rolled a 165, 175 and 149 while Denham rolled a 145, 162 and 163. The Yellow Jackets tied for a point with the 163. In Game 3, the Wildcats would easily defeat (6-2 and 1064-952) St Michael’s behind Johnathan Ryder’s (Senior/Captain) 235 and Aucoin’s 221.
Overall, Central won the Jamboree with 16 points to St Michael’s 9 and Denham’s 8. The 2015 State Runner-Up quest for a fourth straight District Title and a return to the LHSAA State Championships starts on January 20th (Wednesday) against Lee High at All Star Lanes at 3:15PM.
GIRLS
The 2015 State Runner-Up Central cruised through their Jamboree this past Wednesday (1-13-16) against St Joseph’s, Denham Springs and St Michael’s. The Wildcats bowled St Michael’s in Games 1 and 2, while Denham Springs bowled St Joseph’s and the winners bowling Game 3 in the Jamboree Finals.
Central would open up a 5-3 lead (906-848 total pins) in Game 1 behind Sarah LeDuff (Senior/Captain) with a 174, Brittnee Robinson’s (Junior) 159 and Kaylee Robinson’s (Senior) 157. Game 2 saw Central start to show the potential this team could have. Behind Jessie Smith’s (Freshman) 190 and Brianna McCurley’s (Junior) 181, the Wildcats easily won 8-0 and 942-560 to advance to the Jamboree Finals against St Joseph’s. After St Joseph’s defeated Denham Springs, Central cruised again en route to a 7-1 (907-512) victory over St Joseph’s in Game 3. This time McCurley led the way with an impressive 224 and Smith followed with a 188. Overall, Smith led the Wildcats with a 526 series, followed closely by McCurley’s 523, then LeDuff’s 478 and K Robinson’s 454.
After coming so close to winning a State Championship last year, these Wildcats look poised to make another run at the championship. Central’s road to their third straight District Title and return to the State Championships starts on January 25th (Monday) against Woodlawn at All Star Lanes at 3:15PM.
