CFD Battles Warehouse Fire

East Side, Central, and St. George firefighters responded to a warehouse fire Wednesday morning in the 13800 block of Florida Blvd. When firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered heavy fire in one end of the long warehouse. As firefighters began to attack the fire, it was obvious more personnel would be needed and a second alarm was requested, bringing in engines from the District Six and the Baton Rouge Fire Departments.
An aggressive attack prevented the 8:59 a.m. blaze from spreading past the area of origin, but not before causing approximately $160,000 in damage to the structure and contents. Approximately 84 small motorcycles were destroyed in the fire. There were no civilian or fire service injuries.
