Wildcats in Playoffs: Central Football Facing #1 West Monroe

By  |

In 2013 the Wildcats arrived in West Monroe as huge underdogs against the perennial powerhouse and highly ranked Rebels.  Central walked away with a 14-0 shutout win in round two of the playoffs.
This Friday the Wildcats will make that same trip, and this time West Monroe is the undefeated and #1 ranked team in the state.  For those who can’t make the long road trip, the Central Stat Care radio broadcast begins at 6:45 pm on 91.9 FM, Radio Amor, and on the TuneIn Radio App.
The 5-5 Wildcats earned the #32 seed in the state playoffs despite a 24-21 loss last Friday to Live Oak.  Central’s other two district losses came to the #2 and #5 teams in the state, Zachary and Scotlandville.  Five of the six teams in Central’s District 4-5A made this year’s playoffs.
The Wildcats average 30 points per game this year while holding opponents to 26.  The Rebels average 39 points and allow 15.  The winner of the game advances to round two.  A win would pit Central against the winner of #16 Airline and #17 Ponchatoula next Friday.
