Along with the Hall-of-Fame recognition, cheerleader alumni night, and promoting Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Central High School made a statement in support of Devon Gales on Friday night at their home football game. Gales, who was injured while playing football for Southern University against the University of Georgia, is a 2013 graduate of Central High and a very talented former Wildcat football player. The Central community has been very supportive of Gales and his family during his recovery, and that support continued on Friday when donations were taken to help with expenses to related to his injury. In addition, Devon’s name and current and previous football numbers were painted on the football field. Because both Southern University and the University of Georgia have been so kind and helpful toward Gales and his family, the endzones at Wildcat stadium were painted Southern and Georgia colors and logos in honor of each school.
Devon’s former coaches and classmates are pictured above, and pictured below is Gales video chatting with those at the game. Gales is currently recovering at a facility in Georgia.
