CHS Swimmers Perform Well in Kick Off Meet
By Coach Osborne
With 8 out of 14 swimmers competing in a high school meet for the first time, the Central coaches were not sure what to expect at Saturday’s Kick Off Meet at Crawfish Aquatics. The swimmers provided the coaches with a lot to be proud of by their effort.
Sophomore, Geremy Porch led the way for the Wildcats with 2 personal records. Geremy swam the 50 freestyle in 26.94 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 1:02.73. Meanwhile, sophomore Rachel Raggio was the fastest female swimmer for the Wildcats finishing the 50 freestyle in 31.16 seconds in her first meet.
Returning swimmers, Acacia Porch, Tejah Scott, Jack Way, and Emily Hollier picked up where they left off at the end of last year as they swam close to their personal bests. The Wildcats only senior, Brooke Demoulin, competed hard despite a chest cold.
Freshman Ikaika Lee led the way for the first time Wildcat swimmers. Ikaika swam a 50 freestyle split in 28.13 seconds. Josie Dinger, Jana Schuld, Olivia Will, Kaelyn Hollier, Landon Turner, and Jaylon Francois participated in their first meet.
The Wildcats will be back in the pool this Saturday. Matthew Usher, Imani Hudson, and Emily Shain will join the rest of the team after missing the first meet for various reasons. Coaches Matthew Arnold, Tara Termini, and Scott Osborne are excited for the rest of the season as this is the largest team Central has had in many years.
