Press Release
Announcing a "No PARCCing " event in Lovett Road Park on Saturday, April 25 from 12-2 p.m. Central parents join parent volunteers throughout Louisiana to host "No PARCCing" events next Saturday. All Central Community School System parents are invited to attend this local event on why and how you can refuse PARCC testing.
Sample a PARCC practice test. Get straight answers to your questions about high-stakes testing. Learn how to refuse PARCC testing for your children. Get free Opt Out fill-in-the-blank form letters and 'You CAN refuse the PARCC test' handouts.
Drawings for free t-shirts will be held at most locations, including Central!
"Opt Out is about more than not taking a test. It's about why we refuse these Common Core-aligned state accountability tests" says Ann Burruss, a Lafayette parent and administrator at Opt Out Louisiana on Facebook. "We refuse first because they are one-size-fits-all, poorly made, invalid tests. Take a PARCC practice test on Saturday and see for yourself. And second, we refuse because our children are more than test scores and our schools are more than test factories for a broken state accountability system."
Don't settle for a PARCCing violation! Head to your local park on Saturday for the Opt Out Louisiana event near you. Learn more about how you can be involved in finding solutions to public education's PARCCing problem.
