Haley Young Signs With Alabama State University
Haley Young, Central High School Senior, signed with Alabama State University's bowling team in a ceremony Wednesday morning in the Central High Gym. She was surrounded by her family, coaches, and fellow bowling team members as she signed her commitment papers.
Haley is a 3 year member of the CHS bowling team. She served 2 years as captain, led the Girls' team to 2 straight District Championships (2014 & 2015), and the Open team to their first District Championship (2013), and a 2015 LHSAA Girls State Runner-Up honor. She also earned an individual LHSAA State Single Runner-Up honor in 2014, a District MVP in 2014 and was an All District 1st Team member each season she bowled. Haley finished with a 77-17 LHSAA regular season record.
Alabama State is a Division I SWAC conference school and is located in Montgomery, Alabama. The Lady Hornets are led by Coach Andrew Chatmon. Coach Chatmon has been the coach of the team for 6 seasons. The Lady Hornets recently finished the 2014-15 Season with a 55-45 record and a second straight season finishing over .500. ASU's bowling team is excited to welcome Haley to their program this fall.
Haley has been a dedicated team member and an active member in the competitive bowling community. She will be a great asset for the lady hornets and hopes to help bring many trophies and honors to their highly competitive program.
