In Memoriam: Earl J. Vercher

central papers obit b    Born in Colfax, LA and long-time resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away January 6, 2015 at the age of 83. A US Army serviceman during the Korean War, he was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany from 1950-1953. While on leave he wed the love of his life, Juanita "Sis" Murray on Christmas Eve. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary this past Christmas. He was a long-term employee of UniRoyal and Delta Beverage. An avid historian and genealogist, he traced his ancestry back to William the Conqueror. When he wasn't digging in the past, he was digging in his garden. 
    A quiet, soft-spoken, and kind man, a loving husband, daddy, and pawpaw, he is survived by his wife, Juanita; son Jimmy and wife Judy, daughter Yvonne Dykes and husband Tommy; grandchildren Marianne Covington, Alyssa Kairdolf and her husband Brad, Amber Beatty and her husband Adam, Brian Vercher, and Stacey Dykes; great-grandchildren Aubrie and Taylor Pisanie and unborn Baby Kairdolf and Baby Beatty; and niece Teresa Keppler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abram Vercher and Rosa L. Vercher, sister, Ethel V. Hendericks and nephew Thomas P. Hendericks.
    Visitation was held at Seale Funeral Home in Central Thursday, January 8, 2015 and on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Grace Presbyterian Church. Memorial services were held Friday January 9, 2015 at Grace Presbyterian Church. In keeping with his generous and compassionate spirit, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
