In Memoriam: Sidney Ray Lee
Sidney Ray Lee, 84, a native of Greensburg, LA and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, left for his heavenly home at 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Kathleen Dale Yarbrough Lee; son Gary Lee and wife, Cindy; daughter, Darlene Lee Rich; daughter, Rayetta de Mond and husband, John, daughter, Joan Lee and Nathan Gibson; and son, Wesley Lee and wife, Esther; 3 grandsons, Timothy Lee and wife, Kim, Jay Whittington and wife Brooke, and Sean Whittington and wife, Courtney; 2 granddaughters, Danielle de Mond and Eric Fey, and Jennifer Kaye Lee; 4 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Lee, Jordan Lee, Cormac Whittington, and Evangeline Whittington; numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give special thanka to family friend, Mary Lou Austin and also to the nurses in the SICU unit at OLOL RMC. He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Lee and Lillie Newsom Lee; daughter, Jacquelyn "Jacquie" Lee Whittington; brothers, J.B. Lee, Hubert Lee; sister, Rena Perryman; and granddaughter, Jessica Annette Lee. His love was his God, his family, his garden and shooting those "pecan stealing" squirrels. He was a mighty man in stature and spirit. He possessed the gentle and sweet soul of a true gentleman. As a pre-med student at LSU, he was a member of ROTC and had a life long love of LSU athletics. He was proud of his 50 years of membership in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local #1098. In lieu of flowers, donations made to BREC's Cohn Arboretum as a living memorial would be appreciated. Visitation was held at Seale Funeral Home, 9995 Hooper Rd, Central, LA, on Friday, January 2. Visitation resumed Saturday, January 3 until the service officiated by Rev. Tom Higginbotham. A brief graveside service was held at Red Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery in Greensburg, LA. Pallbearers were be Timothy Lee, Jay Whittington, Sean Whittington, Nicholas Lee, Jim Losee, and Paul Losee.
