CFD Tax Passes, Republicans Elected

    Last Saturday’s election put Bill Cassidy (R) into office as our new U.S. Senator, beating incumbent Mary Landrieu (D) 56% to 44%.  Garret Graves (R) won the 6th Congressional District race over Edwin Edwards (D), 62% to 38%.    Beau Higginbotham (R) defeated Cleveland Coon (D) 52% to 48% in the race for District Judge.  The reorganization of EBR Public Works passed 58% to 42%, and the Central Fire Department 4.25 mills passed 60% to 40%.  Voter turnout for these races ranged from 40% to 48%.
