CAPA Corner: Promising

    Our future is promising!  When you listen to all that is going on in our world today, that may seem like an “off the wall” comment.  So let’s forget about the world, the nation, or even our state for just a moment and let’s focus on Central’s future.  This past Sunday evening I had the opportunity to attend “The Stand”, the Central Area Student’s Back to School Prayer Rally.  For all of those who want to believe our future is hopeless, that the next generation is going to self-destruct and that there is generally no hope for the future, I wish you could have been at “The Stand”!  
    Our area’s Youth, Young People, and Young Adults filed into the auditorium for the purpose of praising God and asking Him to bless their schools, the staffs, fellow students, families, and the overall school year.  From the opening song, the passion this group had for this service was very evident. However, the way they prayed and sang revealed more than just a passion for this event, it revealed their faith, love, and passion for serving God and earnestly wanting to touch the lives of others!  
    Negative reports may abound declaring the inappropriate activities of a few individuals but by comparison, on Sunday evening there were many more young people “Standing” up for positive actions, strong values, and for doing the right thing! 
    Paul told Timothy, in 2 Timothy 2:2, “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” After participating in the Prayer Service on Sunday evening, I would say that the “Timothys” in our area have been doing a great job!  Faithful mentors have poured into the lives of others and they are rising to the occasion!
    In Psalm 127:1 it says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it: Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” To all those who serve as mentors such as: parents, teachers, coaches, pastors, and many more, keep up the good work!  To all those that have received their instruction and taken it to heart, thank you for helping to secure our future!
