Minnie Mae Jones Celebrates 90th Birthday
On August 1st we celebrate the 90th Birthday of Minnie Mae Jones! A long time resident of Central, she is known and loved by all. Your memories of her may be of her driving you on her school bus that she drove for over 30 years or maybe you know her for her delicious cooking- like her coconut cake or chicken-n-dumplings. Or she might have served you at vacation bible school or at a school function. I have several memories that I cherish being the youngest grandchild. Like the many trips to Baskin Robbins for mint chocolate chip ice cream, pretend bus driver on her bus, & countless sleep overs as a child. Now as an adult, I cherish the daily conversations she and I have.
She is truly the definition of a Godly woman, of wisdom, humor and love. She has held our entire family together through the good and bad times. Today as we celebrate 90 years of her life we also want to honor her. In the early 1950's she and her late husband Brummit B. Jones planted 2 very special oak trees that sit in front of Mike Anderson's restaurant in Central. They dug those trees up from the Amite River and planted them there. So today, we honor her and her husband and dedicate those 2 trees in His memory and in Her honor. A definition of a Godly marriage and true love. So as you think about all the lives touched by my grandmother Minnie Mae Jones has brought to your life, just know she has brought many to her family! Happy Birthday MawMaw-we love you and look forward to many, many more!
Love, Kelli & all your family
