Debbie Daigle and Rachel Warren share a passion, and what’s even better, they want to share it with Central too!  Debbie and her husband Tommy are owners of “Another Piece of Cake” Bakery, Rachel is their general manager.  Debbie and Rachel met while employed at Ambrosia Bakery as cake decorators.   They loved the business so much, they decided to shoot for their dream and open their own bakery.  “When you dream about cake designs at night, you know you have a passion,” laughs Rachel.  Debbie, proud to be a former Army sergeant, agrees.  “They call me ‘the Cake Sarge’,” she says with a grin.
Using all original recipes, “Another Piece of Cake Bakery” opened 4 weeks ago to rave reviews.  “Our most popular treats are the Royale Cookie (Macadamia nuts, Coconut and Chocolate Chips in a buttery drop cookie) and the Comite Mud Bar (a spin off on a Mississippi Mud Pie with butterscotch).  We can’t keep them in stock – we actually have customers who wait for them to come out of the oven!” enthuses Debbie.  In addition, the ladies offer a huge variety of cakes and individual treats.  Along with the traditional cake balls, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, petit fours, and pastries, “Another Piece of Cake Bakery” offers a twist with Cake Tacos (a cake top folded over and filled, then garnished), Icing Shots (small samples of fillings with icing), and Bread Pudding made from leftover donuts and apple fritters.  A steady breakfast crowd appreciates the donuts, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, kolaches (made with Manda sausage), and monkey bread served with fresh coffee and other beverages.  Customers who grab a treat on the way to work often reappear after school to buy their kid a sweet reward.  Free wi-fi is available.
Special events get special treatment.  A Bridal Room offers a quiet oasis where sample cakes are shown and professional advice given to create the most beautiful centerpiece for the wedding reception.  Another corner of the bakery displays brightly colored birthday and other specialty cakes.  A birthday party package is available for children where they get to wear chef hats and actually try their hand at decorating their own cake with butter cream and fondant icings.  All supplies needed are provided.
All of the bakery’s offerings contain only the freshest ingredients.  “We are not a mass-producer,” says Debbie, “We want to stay small and keep it fresh and real.”  “This gives us the added bonus of developing a personal connection with our customers,” continues Rachel.  Small batches of fillings are made from scratch, and all cream filled items are filled while you wait for that delicious crisp experience.   Mike Anderson’s Restaurant is so impressed with their product that “Another Piece of Cake Bakery” has been asked to provide their desserts.  Homemade bread is coming soon.
What impresses the ladies the most is the supportive community of Central.  “We want to thank Central for being so caring.  It’s just wonderful,” says Rachel.  Debbie adds, “Central has embraced us from day one.  They wish us success, they wrap their arms around us.  We really are Living the Sweet Life.”
“Another Piece of Cake Bakery” is open Tuesday-Saturday 6 am-6 pm, Sunday 6 am-2 pm,  and Sunday afternoon 2-6 for private parties.  14112 Greenwell Springs Road (the old Zoe’s Pizza Buffet), 225-810-3377.  www.anotherpieceofcake.com.  Find them on Facebook: “Another Piece of Cake Bakery”
