In Memoriam: Wilbur Waters

    Wilbur Joseph "Whitey" Waters died on April 25, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary. He was 89, born July 7, 1924 in St. Louis, MO. He was a resident of Central since 1951 and has been a resident of the LA War Veteran's Home in Jackson, LA since December 2013. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a graduate of the University of Missouri and was a Linotype Operator for Franklin Press in Baton Rouge for 37 years. He was a long time president to the Local International Typographical Union.
     He is survived by his wife of 62 and a half years, Laura Lea Bennett Waters.
Preceded in death by his father, W.J. Waters, Sr. and mother Nanlyssa Phipps Johnson and step-father V.M. Johnson.
    Visitation was held at Seale Funeral Home in Central on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 9:00 AM until religious services at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel conducted by Rev. Dennis McAnally. Burial was at Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery.
