Last weekend Ed Palubinskas entered a national free throw championship in St. George, Utah, which he won. There were 16 qualifiers all who shot above 95%. Each person would shoot 25 and rotate. Ed shot against 4 seeded shooters. On his first round he went 25/25. His opponent went 24/25. Second round he went 25/25. His opponent went 23/25. 3rd round he went 24/25. His opponent went 23/25. In the finals Ed went 25/25, while his opponent (a very good 51 year old ex player/shooter)went 22/25. On the same weekend, he won gold at the Nevada state shooting championships winning gold in FT, 3 point, and hot shot competitions for his age group. He also took home the bronze medal in huntsman senior national basketball 3 on 3 in the 55-60 age bracket.
Meanwhile, at the end of July, a Louisiana team from Baton Rouge called "Hoop-La" that Ed plays on, won the gold medal in Cleveland at the national senior games. Hoop-La won the 60-65 age division. It's amazing and inspirational to watch players of all ages compete aggressively in basketball and all sports for that matter.
