Central traveled to Denham Springs last Friday in its annual rivalry game against our neighbors across the river and rolled over the Yellow Jackets 40-6.  Wildcat fans, as usual, traveled well, filling the stands on the visitors’ side.  After the game, Coach Sid Edwards commented, “Great performance.  Great game.  Happy with it.  It was a rivalry game and I thought we flexed our muscle tonight.”
The game looked like a great one for the Wildcats from the start.  The team took off running in the first quarter and never looked back.  Hayes hit popular target Gary Triplett in the first quarter for the first points of the game.  A short run by Hayes just before halftime, followed by a Greg Noel extra point, and Central led Denham 14-0.
Jarrad Hayes threw three more touchdown passes in the second half, two to Gary Triplett and one to Joseph Pourciau.  Jake Myer scored as well on a 14-yard run.  Central’s defense did a great job holding the Yellow Jackets to 6 points.  Central’s offensive line continued to step up their game, protecting Hayes in the pocket and  opening up holes for senior Jake Myer.
Myer led all rushers with a career-best 110 yards on 20 carries, while Triplett racked up 136 yards on 7 receptions.
Coach Sid explained the difference he saw this week.  “I saw us playing with a lot of grit and toughness and its something that has been missing the first four or five weeks.  We lined up and ran the football and that excites me.”
