In Memoriam: Shirley Theriot Browning

Shirley Theriot Browning, 81, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 at her home. She was a long time resident of Central and a former employee of Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. She was a very talented lady with her love of art, being an accomplished china and oil painter. She also inherited from many generations, her green thumb for growing anything in her garden. Her greatest devotion was her family which was shown by her time spent with them and her love of genealogy. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Central, LA, on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m.until service at 10 a.m., officiated by Rev. Ross Ford, Jr.. Burial will be at Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by her daughter, Anne Browning Matlock and husband, David; grandsons, Rhett Lormand and wife, Courtney; and Lee Lormand; great-grandson and "apple of her eye", Colt Browning Lormand; sisters, Elfelda Nevils, Norma Ory, Neva Von Monarch, Bernadette Mills and husband, Bill; brother, J.G. Theriot and wife, June; sisters-in-law, Dell Hernandez and J.B. Theriot; brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Mary Browning; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Howard "Pete" Browning; parents, Daisy and Horace Theriot, Sr.; sister, June Phelps; brother, Horace "Brother" Theriot, Jr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard and Eugenia Browning; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenny Browning and Elaine Brice.
