Relay for Life Changing It Up

By  |
By Beth Fussell
The Central Relay for Life has a new look this year!  We are changing it up by hosting a Gleaux Run 5K at Central Intermediate School, wherein participants are encouraged to wear glow or light-up for the nighttime run.  Turn to page 13 for event and registration details.
Additionally, we look for ways to honor those in our lives who have been affected by cancer and to remember those who have passed away.  After the run, there will be a luminaria ceremony.  Each luminaria is purchased through a donation in honor of or in memory of a loved one whose life has been impacted by cancer.  The lit bags are decorated with the names of these loved ones, and everyone in attendance gathers in silence to honor and remember these people.  Please join us for this meaningful event.
If you are a cancer survivor, there are two opportunities for you to participate on November 16th.  First, there will be a free pancake breakfast at Blackwater Methodist Church for cancer survivors from 9AM to 11AM.  Spouses and caretakers are welcomed to come, as well.  Then, in the evening on the 16th, cancer survivors are invited to participate in the Gleaux Run for free.  To participate in either or both events, please sign up at www.relayforlife.org/centralla.  If you cannot sign up online, please call Beth at 978-7025 so we can get you signed up.
